Transforming My Workspace for Relaxation and Efficiency.

It's been a few years since I settled into my studio space on the outskirts of a quiet beach town in Florida. In this time, my workspace has undergone a transformative evolution to meet my needs, fostering both productivity and creativity. Hi, I'm Joe, and in this blog post, I'll provide you with an in-depth update on the changes I've made to my studio space and how they've significantly enhanced my work environment.

Expanding the Hub: The Sway Standing Desk Evolution

At the heart of my office is the Sway standing desk from Ergonofis, a focal point that has stood the test of time. However, there was a missing element from my previous home office setup—a larger work surface. In a bid to address this, I reached out to Ergonofis, and they generously sent over their updated Sway standing desk in the 30x60” model.

Setting up an L-shaped configuration by combining it with my original 30x72” Sway desk has been a game-changer. This design choice allows me to separate analog tasks, such as writing and sketching, from digital ones. The expanded surface not only facilitates better task focus but also aids in reducing clutter, contributing to a more organized workspace.

I’ve moved my computer off of the desk and placed it onto the matching Ergonofis filing cabinet. This clears up room to place my trust Yamaha HS5 Studio monitors on the desk. The Yamaha’s are resting on foam isolation pads from Sonic Acoustics. I’ve got the Yamaha’s plugged into the Audient EVO 8 USB Audio Interface.

Analog Efficiency with Ugmonk's Analog Task Tool

To streamline my analog tasks, Ugmonk's Analog task tool has proven to be invaluable. The three card types—Today, Next, and Someday—rest neatly in a walnut-finished solid wood card holder. Each morning, I jot down my daily to-do list on the "Today" card, utilizing a straightforward system of circles and arrows to track progress and manage tasks efficiently.

The "Next" card serves as a planning tool for upcoming projects, while the "Someday" card is dedicated to jotting down long-term goals and ideas. This analog system not only keeps my to-do list concise but also serves as a constant visual reminder, enhancing my focus and productivity.

Functional and Stylish Note-Taking

For quick notes, I rely on the Grovemade slim desk notepad, while more detailed notetaking is reserved for simple notebooks from Muji. My trusty gel pens from Muji complete the set, providing a seamless note-taking experience. The strategic placement of these tools on the expansive desk ensures accessibility and ease of use.

Flexibility with Ergonofis Desk Casters

The optional casters from Ergonofis provide an added layer of flexibility. Being able to wheel the desk into the adjacent studio space for product photos or B-Roll has streamlined my content creation process. The warm wood surface offers an aesthetically pleasing backdrop for photography, and the adjustable height feature caters to various shot types.

Technological Upgrades: LG Monitors and Ergonomic Accessories

Moving to the technological aspects of my workspace, I've upgraded my monitor setup to two LG monitors—a 28” Dual Up display and a 27” LG UltraFine 4K display. The vertical orientation of the Dual Up display, paired with the Ergo stand on the UltraFine, optimizes desk space while providing an immersive viewing experience.

I've also incorporated the BenQ ScreenBar Halo, a significant upgrade in monitor lighting. Its wireless control and the complementing Philips Hue Gradient light strip contribute to a well-lit workspace that reduces eye strain during prolonged computer use.

Wireless Efficiency: Logitech MX Master 3S and Keychron K10

A shift from the Razer combo to the Logitech MX Master 3S mouse and the Keychron K10 mechanical keyboard has enhanced the overall efficiency of my workspace. Both wireless peripherals cater to my preference for a full-size keyboard, essential for my workflow in applications like Resolve and Photoshop. A leather desk pad from Ergonofis adds a touch of sophistication to the keyboard and mouse area.

Personalized Aesthetics: Art, Prints, and Decor

In maintaining my tradition of surrounding myself with items I enjoy, the studio space is adorned with a Formula 1 theme. Fresh prints from Automobilist, featuring limited-edition foil prints, have replaced the previous set, infusing the space with a renewed energy. The Beckett 3-tier shelf from Crate & Barrel continues to be a canvas for items that hold personal significance, contributing to a workspace that radiates positive vibes.
